Nudescapism launch

by dan brookman October 20, 2016

Nudescapism.com today announces the official launch of its newly designed website for the sale of original art nude photography by Daniel Brookman. Out of its beta pilot, the platform brings the possibility of the direct to public sale of the artist’ images. There will be regular and informative blogs on the topic of art nude photography and a mixture of new and archival photographs released weekly.

Fine Art Photography

To me, great fine art nude photography is able to raise the beauty of the human body to an ethereal level. Celebrating the form, composition, beauty and uniqueness of each person photographed. Nudescapism intends to raise the profile of the art nude even further with a mixture of genres available for every taste and affordability. Historically the nude has been a prominent subject of photography since its development, and played an important role in implementing photography as a fine art medium.

As a young teenager studying photography at school, I became captivated by a number of masters of photography; None more so than Jeanloup Sieff’s images, the ’Derrieres’ series amongst others.  His art is a testimony to his lifelong quest for art and beauty through fine art black & white photography. His images are never ostentatious, and whilst he is a master of composition and proficiency, the approaches to his subjects are refreshingly simplistic. He has an ingenuous aesthetic approach to photography, and frequently satirises the techno-speak that enveloped the harmony and analysis of many modern images.

I also become fascinated by the Surrealist Movement through my love of Man Ray. The use of combination printing, double exposure, montage, and solarisation made me appreciate the desire and need to experiment with the traditional standards of photography, into the realms of the unknown, untried and untested. Reinterpreting photography in general through the means of the surreal, assigning it a new meaning, aesthetic, context, even purpose, was what made Man Ray’s work so appealing to me and pushed my own work beyond the obvious standards, photographers are judged by.
